New PGAT fall event taking place in southern Utah. Short PAR 71 (given the elevation) designed by Tom Weiskopf. The course is so new that you can’t even see it on Google Maps. The obvious course comp would be the Stadium course at TPC Scottsdale. Looking at the flyovers on the course website the green complexes also appear to be big and flat. It looks like big misses will be punished much more harshly as the desert is full of big lava rocks.
Ya, it’s pretty hard to predict who new courses will favour. Distance is the most reliable characteristic, but reachable par 5s and 4s can affect things too. The PGA Tour has the course listed at 7,371 yards; what % are you taking off for elevation?
Do y’all have any strokes gained stats at high elevation anywhere in the database?
The greens and surroundings appear to be more complex than TPC Scottsdale. Fairways very generous yet somehow our favorite French speaking Socialist has 3 reloads in 7 holes. Greens are firm. Enjoyable viewing so far!
Are there no fans out there? Nowhere to stand? Feel like I haven’t seen a single non-player/volunteer.
How many players in PGAT history have shot 28 or 29 on the outward 9 in Round 1 and not made the cut? Asking for my friend Alejandro.
whos the french speaking socialist
The great Martin Trainer. Might have registered the worst 9-hole SG OTT number ever on his front 9 yesterday (-7.3).
More long iron approaches then the normal course. Highest fairway percentage ever? Even slightly higher than Trinity Forest. Higher than normal penalty percentage off the tee. So off the tee as been as expected however around the green play has surprisingly played tougher than average.
