Ridiculous and Bitter Tone on Live Blog?

The open hatred and derision towards LIV kind of harms what is a great product. We can’t count on you guys being reliable when you have so much hatred to one of the two largest leagues in the world.

Is it that bad? I think it’s pretty light-hearted joking. Will’s official pick was Rahm!

As for the reliability of the model… this has been discussed before in the forum. The incentives for us to make the model as accurate as we can are very strong.

It’s also just our sense of humour. The most recent post about Scottie’s temper for example… if that was a LIV player I assume you would think we are being too hard on them?

Calling for Niemann to leave LIV to begin building up his pro golf career is just preposterous. And saying he shouldn’t be in major fields while he’s one of the worlds best golfers can’t be seen as anything other than bitterness

Well, look at my post right after Will’s.

Anyways, maybe you are right about the tone. You are the first person to say anything though. I think the expected position for an “unbiased” fan in 2022 is to now (in 2025) dislike LIV a lot.

For the average high end podcast (NLU, shotgun start , etc) sure, because they essentially work with the PGA Tour so they have financial reasons to act the way they do and work on behalf of PGA. But for a fan of Golf I love the split. More good golf to watch and makes majors extra special

Also great product I mean the live blog. The model and numbers remain so far beyond all other golf coverage I didn’t even mention it. It’s a waste of time listening to the hot take guys like NLU , etc if you want to know about golf. Only brandel can compare to what you guys bring in terms of additive golf coverage

I like the light hearted cracks at LIV. The Legion 13 in great shape to win the team event made me laugh.

As for Niemann, it’s the same thing every year …I’ve always liked him a lot and he’s a great golfer. Probably top 10 in the world yes, or close to. But he chose to leave for a Tour where you can’t automatically qualify for Majors …so they have to extend an invite every time. And every time, he disappoints. At some point, as a tournament, you have to ask yourself if it’s worth it continuing to give it to him.

Like …yeah, 100% his talent is worthy of a spot in Majors, but his results are not. He’s been irrelevant.

Charl Schwartzel has 1 more top 20 in Majors since 2021…Charley Hoffman has the same amount.

The argument could be made that about 10 LIV golfers have been more relevant than Niemann, since they all joined LIV. (Bryson, Rahm, Koepka, Reed, Hatton, Burmester, Smith, Phil, Garcia).

Anyways …I’m a Niemann fan and would love nothing more than see him contend on a major sunday. He’s so talented and fun to watch but he needs to do something in a Major

But don’t majors want the best golfers? Tons of top golfers have bad 8-10 major stretches, just feels personal bc it’s a LIV guy

yeah you’re not wrong.

I’m just saying my opinion …that despite the fact that he is clearly good enough and one of the top talents in golf, at some point his achievements on a Tour with only 20 good players are not enough anymore. Have to perform in Majors. At least show some sort of life.

I mean he beats bryson over a season, isnt that impressive?
I don’t get this urge to kick someone out of
Majors,
It never happens for PGA players

Who is getting kicked out of the majors? Niemann didn’t qualify.

Also it’s shocking to me you think that these podcasters must be financially tied to the PGA Tour because they dislike LIV. As if there is no other reason why someone might not like LIV.

This is part of what makes LIV and its players so unlikeable. Why are you painting Niemann as a victim? He got paid a ton of money to go play on a new tour where there wasn’t an established path to the majors. Of course that will make it harder to get into future majors.

It’s the majors job to create the best field for the golfing fan imo, not to bend to what the PGA tour wants. I think the PGA became overly clunky, dull, corporate and flabby in the years leading up to LIV and have improved their product in response. I think majors should be trying to get best golfers in fields, which should lead to more LIV invites, not fewer

Telling him he can’t play in majors when he is playing elite golf is ridiculous and only benefits the PGA

No, they are financially tied to the PGA. Hard to disentangle what’s honest and what isn’t once you start working with a league

The majors have a process for major qualification. Berger was like a top 10 or top 20 player in the world in late 2020 and didn’t get into the Masters. Niemann made his choice, stop acting like he should be guaranteed a spot in the field.

Evidence of financial ties?

I mean I know they do, it’s just my opinion that they should realize there are two Major leagues now and adjust. I truly don’t understand why they don’t, it only harms their product

I spoke with one of the co-founders a year ago. They didn’t have any financial ties at that time. So how do you know? The “creator council” is nothing financial. Half those guys just played in the LIV creator thing.
