Draftkings Odds Moving Very Quickly

An observation that I’m sure many of you have noticed. DK’s odds for matchups seem to be gone in 10 minutes or less these days. Much faster than even last year. I wonder if they have a trader actively monitoring the feed

I think this is probably driven by more action coming in quickly. I’m sure the number of users and volume of betting being driven by this site is moving odds very quickly.

Maybe. But i would expect that trend to be more uniform across all books which it is not. Some will let matchup lines sit for an hour or two, sometimes even longer

I suspect they are connected to the API and have it set to flag/adjust/limit when the prices diverge by x amount. Some books do this off of pinnacle so they are almost never too far off market, but Draftkings create their own lines so it has to be volume, an external source or both

Isco finishing odds were good for at least several hours in comparison

This aligns with my experience lately as well. Finding my accounts are expiring much faster than they used to.

Doesn’t help when people immediately blast every single good line to hundreds of people who don’t pay for the DG sub.

Agree that this is really out of line - shame on them!

bang on. I’m aware of a few discords that do this with hundreds of ppl in each

which begs the questions that was proposed in another thread, if we want to protect the alpha that DG generates, shouldnt we just manually run these sims our selves?

I personally really really like getting all of the books lines in one place. Agree that we probably don’t necessarily need the expected value easily downloaded/ingested if the tradeoff is the lines are gone within 15 minutes of posting (sometimes sooner)

Been thinking about this topic a lot lately because it feels existential.

Sports betting has always been a zero sum game, and will continue to be zero sum. It’s always been bettor against thousands of other bettors. Those with speed and quality information win, those without lose. This is only exacerbated by the increase in more advanced tools like private Discords and more odds screens. Hell, even Unabated Sports has a golf odds screen now.

It’s true that one of the most profitable strategies in betting is to hammer openers, but this strategy just doesn’t seem as viable anymore. Which is fine, because sportsbooks don’t like heavy steam on soft lines. Fortunately, I’m confident there will always be profitably angles and strategies, especially as the betting industry continues to grow, more sportsbooks pop up, betting menus are expanded, etc. I think we just need to be agile and adaptable

Which discords are the biggest offenders? I’ve had complaints about one called bet recaps, I believe.

bet recaps is a big one. Cheese and Fran is another big one throwing out all kinds of DG green

Bet Recaps is the one I’ve heard of

Sourced Betting steals the lines too: x.com

Yeah if anyone comes across an email or some way of contacting the people who run these discords, feel free to DM it to me. I can’t DM the twitter accounts.

The problem is it’s basically whack-a-mole. You can kill a few of them but they will just spin up another in 10 minutes

Reach out to whop support and they will put you in touch and/or deliver your message. 500+ member discords don’t appear out of thin air so stopping these big ones from posting the plays for free and immediately as they release would go a long way.

@matt_courchene cut the api feed for 10 minutes or so after the numbers come online and see what happens.

You should also consider raising prices like a lot. Less members, easier to control this stuff.

The DK odds were gone within 90 seconds this time around which is way quicker than usual for the Monday drop.

Same with the UK books, there are plenty of discords here giving out DG data as well. I like the idea of working stuff out ourselves in the model as these guys won’t want to work for the EV if it not spoonfed, or delay the API on opening odds.
