Peter Uihlein's path back to the PGA Tour

Currently +1 in the Palmetto Championship, made the cut on the number. Probably looking at a finish outside top 20, barring a huge weekend.

He has been playing better this year and has a very good chance of being back in the PGA Tour next season, but has to play his cards right. This is how he stands:

  • 161st in the FedEx Cup standings. Needs a top 10 to reach the Top 144 and a top 3 to have a good chance at Top 125. Obviously it’s not happening this week.
  • 29th in the Korn Ferry Tour money list. He already has a win, 2, and T7 this season in 10 events.
  • If all else fails he can probably play in Europe full-time next season.

He looks like a PGA Tour player, and he’s had 2 very solid seasons in his career. However, I think his situation is pretty cut and dry - the Korn Ferry Tour is probably the winning ticket. 1-2 high finishes will pretty much clinch it and he can work his way in with a few T20’s.

What is your take?

Looks like he could be the first PGA Tour scalp for Greg Norman’s golf venture

He’s on the field list for the International Series England and has a history of playing abroad (with success)

Making the jump is a no-brainer for someone like him. He could earn $5-10M this season if he commits full-time to the International and Invitational Series

And don’t forget about the silly season events at the back end of the season. I have a feeling Saudi International won’t be the only full-field big money event
