Does DG have a way to differentiate small vs large gpp ownership, similar to ETR?
Most interested in the course fit early in the week. The last two PGAs have favoured accuracy more than the pre-tourney course fit would have you believe whereas Oak Hill in '23 was the complete opposite. Have heard people talking up accuracy/approach angle believing the very recent trend continues.
We shall see but I do find it a fascinating puzzle of what the market is leaning into as well as what bettors should lean into. Is it good to take players that are fragile to course fit, with the idea being if it hits it’s a big gain (Potgieter if it plays bomber, Putnam if it plays short for extreme examples). Or should we be looking at players who can survive either way and the hope is having the ‘edge’ be stable?
Always just the single ownership but as a rule of thumb I always just add ownership for the DG (and surely ETR) value plays the smaller a field gets.

Rory taken off the course today with a toe blister. Something to monitor, although he downplayed it -
Hey All,
Pretty interesting topics covered Tuesday tonight on the Golf Channel…Chamblee & McGinley got into a little debate about driving distance vs. driving accuracy. This was leading up to their segment with the Gil Hanse who renovated the course about 10 years ago. I think this lines up with yesterday’s blog about the course fit.
@matt_courchene @will_courchene
Missed it. Were they discussing whether distance/accuracy will be more important this week?
Brand new to the site…do you guys do anything with UD?if not any way to interpret what you are putting out to use it for that site? Thanks in advance. @matt_courchene @will_courchene
Chamblee asked McGinley what short player dominated the game like the long players. McGinley’s response was Strange followed by Faldo. Chamblee then asked about Tiger. I’m just getting into golf thanks to your website but Tiger was from a different planet during his run, so it’s hard to compare him to anyone from my perspective. And I guess that’s why I love your website because I get to learn more via data and visuals.
Just a quick question but newsletters are random? There isn’t a newsletter preview for every major?
Enjoy this week!
Is there any way to categorize the rankings in regard to birdies, pars etc and the players rank in these areas?
Yeah sometimes newsletters don’t quite make it out before majors. Ideally we would but I was travelling last week and we just ran out of time. All of our major coverage is in the live blog, which can be interpreted as a preview from Monday–Wednesday.
Otherwise they come out on a pretty random schedule.
No, we don’t… what would you be looking for in particular?
Just trying to use the data or info to use in a 6 man draft for the PGA. I’ve gotten smoked a few times. Trying to learn what is most useful. Points; Birdies 3, pars .5, Eagles 8, finish position IE 4th gets 14, first 20. Need to finish top 15%. Miscellaneous points for consecutive birdies, etc. I’ve tried SG in many different areas and combined. Any insights would be great. A lot to work through on your site.
I am actually loving the golf this week. Really makes a change to see a tough test and the pro’s fighting to make par. Actually hope they don’t turn it into a birdie fest over the weekend. Keep the the greens with tough pins.
I think over the weekend separation will happen with the elite coming through and we will have a power packed leaderboard down the stretch on sunday.
Really looking forward to this last round. A major with 20 to 30 guys who have some sort of chance to win. Makes a refreshing change.
Think if one of the -1 or -2 guys can shoot 64/65 could get really interesting.
It’s going to be a lot of fun!
Loving the Cam Smith wild performance so far. Honestly thought he would never return to a decent level of golf.
Not sure I am prepared for a Matti Schmid major win though!
Damn… tough pill to swallow that DG wasn’t on Aaron Rai for his (inevitable) first major win.
