Scottie is second in the field this week OTT (no surprise) but he was basically tied with Cameron Young and Sam Burns for longest player in the field today and the broadcast had a 183 and two 181s (another one went 350 without a number). New driver too.
This would concern me if I wanted to win golf tournaments this year and was not Scottie Scheffler.
Yeah, that is scary. Interesting to look at Scheffler’s driving distance throughout his career:
Dipped in 2024/2025 but that was accompanied by an increase in driving accuracy. Given how unreal his ball-striking is, and the fact that he does have a lot in the tank when he needs it, not crazy to think he should be a +1-1.2 guy OTT regularly (averaged +0.83 in 2025).
Got to think Scottie’s putting regresses a bit in 2026, though.
